What it's All About
From Laura Ziskin, producer of Spider-Man, comes an epic and contemporary adaptation of one of the most popular tales of all time, with a distinctive WB twist.
The WB's Tarzan reveals a part of the saga that has yet to be told. Flash forward two decades from the day young John Clayton was left for dead in the heart of the jungle. Today, robbed of both his birthright and his adopted home, Tarzan fights for his life in the glass and steel canyons of another jungle - New York City. From his rooftop perch, Tarzan protects the city with the primal morality that proclaimed him king of the jungle.
His only human bond is Jane Porter - a beautiful and dedicated police detective who must battle her conscience as well as the criminal element. Engaged to another member of the force, Jane is torn between love, duty and her powerful attraction to this wild and dangerous vigilante.
A Warner Bros. Television production, in the tradition of Smallville, from writer/co-executive producer Eric Kripke, director/executive producer David Nutter (Smallville, Without A Trace) and executive producers Laura Ziskin (Pretty Woman), David Gerber, P.K. Simonds (Party of Five).

What Travis Thinks
I think you're going to like our show: "Because it's a love story."
The best way to describe Tarzan is: "This guy has two sides. He's very savage and primal but he's also very truthful and honest. He's not corrupted by society and the civilized world."
The story we are telling is: "Totally not what you'd expect. Tarzan [of the past] was a legend, this Tarzan is real. In the beginning he is homeless. He's trying to survive on the streets. He intuitively tries to protect Jane, himself and the other homeless people."
My friends would tell you: "That I'm perfect for this job because I'm not very mature. I'm just kidding, but I do like to laugh. A lot. I like to have fun and I'm an idiot. I think that works really well with a guy who's been in the jungle his whole life. I'm also not good with girls. I wish I drove them crazy in a good way, but it never seems to work out. "
The biggest challenge is: "I am literally shooting this show on location without wearing any shoes. That's kind of scary, especially when I'm shooting scenes in the back alleys of New York City."
Episode Guide
Episode #1 -"Pilot"
This thrilling contemporary take transforms the classic Tarzan tale into a rapid-fire adventure, an intriguing mystery and, most of all, a fiery love story. Strong-willed NYPD detective Jane Porter's perfectly ordered life turns upside down when a routine case unexpectedly leads her to primal and passionate Tarzan, now loose in the urban jungles of New York City. After plucking the mysterious feral man from his wild home, Tarzan's billionaire uncle, the CEO of powerful Greystoke Industries, stops at nothing to "civilize" Tarzan in his own image. And, inexorably attracted to Tarzan's dangerous yet profoundly innocent nature, Jane wrestles with reason and instinct, civilization and savagery, her heart and her head.
